FAQs about Rocky and Trailer (Un)loading
Upload time: 2024-04-17

XYZ Robotics unveiled Rocky MMR (Mobile Manipulation Robot) at three major international exhibitions, including MODEX, LogiMAT, and SF+AW 2024 in late March. The robot garnered significant attention and interest as it automated one of the most labor-intensive tasks in logistics — trailer (un)loading.

At our booth, our team engaged with many prospective attendees and industry professionals. Many expressed curiosity about Rocky MMR and its potential to enhance warehouse operations. This collection of FAQs will address some of their burning questions and help you explore more details about Rocky and our Trailer (Un)loading solution.

01丨What is Rocky?

Rocky is the latest Mobile Manipulation Robot from XYZ Robotics. It is designed for efficient and flexible case handling in warehouses and distribution centers.

02丨Can Rocky do both trailer loading and unloading?

Yes. Rocky can autonomously load and unload. You can pair it with another Rocky robot for (de)palletizing operation. Combining mobility and perception prowess, Rocky has the potential for a wide range of warehouse applications.

03丨How fast can Rocky load/unload?

RockyOne can load/unload a full 40-foot standard container in just 2 hours. The robot works 450 cycles/hour. Its intelligent gripper allows 2-3 boxes per pick, resulting in a picking rate of over 800 cases/hour.

04丨Can Rocky handle cases close to the top of the trailer?

Yes. After scanning with 3D vision, Rocky securely picks boxes from the side faces and transfers them on or off the top layer. Our advanced motion planning algorithm ensures collision-free handling close to the top of the container.

05丨Can Rocky handle cases at the rear end of the trailer?

Yes. Rocky can operate on the ramp that connects the trailer and the dock. It effectively avoids obstacles to ensure safe handling, including the rear door header.

06丨Can Rocky work at different docks?

Yes. Rocky can move 360° freely and navigate using SLAM. It can switch between docks and adapt to different warehouses after a quick setup.

07丨Is it difficult for personnel to operate Rocky?

Any warehouse personnel can operate Rocky after a simple training. The operator can remotely control it using a wireless tablet with a user-friendly HMI.

08丨How many shifts can Rocky work?

Rocky supports seamless 24/7 operation with a wired power supply and can work 3 shifts. It also allows cable-free movement with equipped batteries.

As a mobile manipulator, Rocky robot is an efficient and flexible choice for a wide range of logistics case handling operations. The robot is ready to take up heavy lifting work and boost productivity in warehouses and distribution centers.
