Case Study | Multifunctional Automation Solution for an Electronics Manufacturer
Upload time: 2022-04-24

XYZ Robotics’ robots help a leading electronics manufacturer achieve automated inbound and outbound processes in its warehouse by handling carton boxes. The multifunctional solution not only provides superior performance at a low cost, but also helps the customer build a fully automatic factory.

How to carry out efficient turnover of finished products is a major problem facing many manufacturing enterprises. In this case, a leading electronics manufacturer deploys XYZ Robotics’ robots to handle carton boxes with products and achieve automated inbound and outbound processes.

Compared with manual work, the robot paired with advanced algorithms can not only implement complex functions such as palletizing on non-empty pallets, palletizing with labelled-side out, and mixed case palletizing. XYZ’s multifunctional solution helps the customer with the successful upgrading of a semi-automatic factory to a fully automatic one.

Project Overview

The customer in this case is a listed relay manufacturer. Its factory occupies a floor area of 8,000 square meters with an annual production value of 200 ~ 300 million. The original manual work can’t keep up with the huge output for the increasing human costs and the error-prone operation. The unsatisfactory inbound and outbound efficiency also leads to a low distribution throughput.

On the other hand, the international pandemic will also accelerate the trend towards automation. Because of the labor shortage, there is an urgent need for the factory to embrace automated operation and distribution.

Project Processes

Paired with WCS/WES, XYZ Robotics has deployed 3 kinds of intelligent (de)palletizing positions to achieve automated inbound and outbound of carton boxes with products, thus promoting fully automated production in the factory.

  1. The products are packed in carton boxes;
  2. The robot palletizes carton boxes for inbound (including palletizing on non-empty pallets);
  3. The factory receives the order;
  4. Based on the carton boxes’ specifications and quantity required by the order, the robot calculates the feeding order and generates the mixed case pallet pattern;
  5. The robot depalletizes carton boxes coming in a specified order;
  6. The robot palletizes with single or mixed carton boxes for outbound.

Highlights

01 High throughput: 6 s/case

Equipped with XYZ Robotics’ smart motion planning algorithm, the robot can choose a time-optimal trajectory for greater throughput.
